Pregnancy is one of the happiest moments in a woman’s life, but the stretch marks come with it. Stretch marks, also called striae, are an annoying and unavoidable side effect after pregnancy and happen when your skin changes shape rapidly due to weight gain, hormonal changes, or sudden fat loss.
During pregnancy, with the baby growing inside the womb, the skin stretches beyond its capacity, which leads to those ugly-looking stretch marks. It is always better to treat them as early as possible. Therefore it is advisable to treat them at the early stage so it is easier to get them lighter.
Stretch marks get lighter with time but they will never disappear completely from your body. There are many chemical and surgical treatments available to remove stretch marks like a vascular laser, fractional laser treatment, abdominoplasty, etc.
But these treatments are a lot riskier. Thus, it is always advisable to go for home remedies which are as effective and a lot cheaper. Here are some remedies to reduce stretch marks.
Oil Treatment
Since stretch marks are scarring from skin damage, massaging your affected area on the body might help heal the appearance quickly. Applying oil to your stretch marks each day might take away some of their red appearances. The oil moisturizes and exfoliates your skin. It also improves blood circulation and removes stretch marks.
Take some oil in your palms and gently massage the affected area. Let the body absorb it for 30 minutes. You will get the result if you follow regularly. You can also prepare a mixture of olive oil, water, and vinegar, and apply it at night.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is one effective remedy for stretch marks. It helps them reduce gently and soothes your skin. Apply pure aloe vera from a plant rather than the one in the market to your stretch marks daily after your shower.
Get the gel, rub it on the affected skin areas, leave for 15 minutes, and wash it off using lukewarm water. Apply it regularly and you will see the result in a few days. You can also prepare a mixture. Take one-fourth cup of aloe vera gel with oil from five vitamin A and ten vitamin E capsules. Rub it on your skin until it is completely absorbed. Apply it twice a day for early effect.
Honey
Raw organic honey is best for reducing stretch marks, scars, and blemishes on the skin as it contains antioxidants. Raw organic honey also contains a high level of antibacterial activity, which can help to heal wounds in the skin and promote skin cell growth. Raw organic honey contains vitamins, minerals, living enzymes, nutrients, and good bacteria that nourish the skin and help it repair quickly.
Take a small cloth and apply honey on it. Place the cloth on the affected area and let it remain until it goes dry. Rinse it off using lukewarm water.
Egg White
Egg whites have lots of collagen which repair and rejuvenate the skin and make it look fresh. The protein in eggs helps your skin cells to regenerate fats, thus quickly repairing damaged and stretched skin. To use eggs, separate the yolk from the white.
Clean the affected area with water and apply a thick layer of egg white using a brush. Keep it for 15 minutes and then rinse off using cold water. Do it regularly for at least two weeks. It helps improve your skin tone and reduce stretch marks appearance slowly.
Sugar
Sugar has been used for a long time to fade stretch marks. It exfoliates your dead skin and helps get your stretch marks lighter.
Mix one cup of sugar with 1/4 cup of a softening agent, like almond oil or coconut oil. Add a few drops of lemon juice. Scrub the mixture on the part of your body where the stretch marks are before you go for a shower. Do it every day for a month.
Lemon Juice
As citric acid is most concentrated in lemons, it is helpful in healing stretch marks.
Rub fresh lemon juice on the affected skin area. Leave it to remain for about 15 minutes. Rinse off using lukewarm water. Apply every day for speedy recovery. You can also make a lemon and cucumber juice mixture and apply it to the stretch marks.
Turmeric
When ingested, turmeric has plenty of benefits for pregnant women. It turns out that curcumin the active ingredient in this yellow spice can also treat stretch marks when applied to the skin.
Add turmeric powder or crushed turmeric root in lukewarm water, lemon juice, or coconut oil. Apply it on the affected skin area once or twice a day. Do it every day for a month.
